The most important things to know about :
Carpenter Ants
(1/4 inch to 1 inch long)
Carpenter ants occur in different colors and sizes, although we do get lots of calls about big black ants. Carpenter ant damage occurs when these ants nest in the wood and other structural materials of your home. The main nest site for a Carpenter ant colony is typically in a stump or in the base of a tree and the main nest site is rarely ever inside a home. The nest in your home is just one part of a larger inter-connected colony system with multiple nests in each colony. Carpenter ant control includes eliminating the nest(s) in your home and protecting it from reinfestation.
Ants from the main nest site will reinfest your home for two main reasons: whatever attracted them to your home to begin with will still be attractive to them after our treatment, and all nests in a colony are connected by chemical 'scent' trails that are reinforced every time an ant uses the trail. As long as the main nest site is around, and it can be hundreds of feet away, your home will be in danger of reinfestation.
Carpenter ant control may be as simple as a permiter spray with a professional quality pesticide application. It may be much more difficult and involved. We customize our pest solutions according to your needs and budget. We perform free estimates and our rates are very reasonable.
